Maples Surgical Centre, a division of Clearpoint Health Network is recruiting an experience Registered Nurse- Operating Room or Licensed Practical Nurse - Operating Room in the position of Team Lead, Operating Room to work from Monday - Friday. This position shall report to the Director of Operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures and with the mission and vision of CHN.
- Operationally manage the perioperative services team members using evidence-based knowledge and prevailing standards.
- Point person for physicians and staff in the operating room setting. Navigate staff conflicts and issues. Primary communicator to and from the operating room (new procedures, surgeons etc.). Evaluates current practice through quality and performance improvement measures.
- Collaborates with members of the perioperative team, PAR team and non-clinical team members, attending various meetings and consistently working on OR efficiency and staff morale.
- Manages resources within budget/contractual arrangements by assisting with slate reviews and planning, managing staffing budget and scheduling, coordination of special supplies, collaborating with stores on back orders and assisting with medication stock management.
- Undertakes quality assurance initiatives in partnership with the facility Manager and clinical resource nurse, to be always accreditation ready, by following and adhering to College standards as well as assisting in the development of orientation and support of new team members and the on-going compliance of the team members.
- In collaboration with the facility Manager, develop strategies to improve clinical processes, optimize timeliness of care and operating room efficiencies and utilization.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies, medication administration and storage procedures and controlled substances regulations. Documents patient care appropriately in the medical record. Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
- Must demonstrate reliability and dependability in scheduled shifts and all areas of clinical need.
Required Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in good standing with Canadian governing body.
- Operating Room experience, perioperative nursing certification is essential.
- Understanding and compliance with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
- Ability in providing clinical leadership and developing, in their professional staff, a willingness to engage in continuous clinical skill improvement.
- Effective communication with all team members.
- Ability to take ownership and accountability.
- Ability to perform consistently in a highly organized, rapid moving, complex environment. Collaborating within the expectations of a highly complex integrated team.
- The ability to cope and effectively perform in stressful and/or emergent situations is essential.
Physical Requirements:
- The work environment can be physically demanding and may require different levels of physical exertion, such as lifting and transferring patients.
- Must be able to lift/push/pull more than 25 pounds.
- At times, operating room nurses may work in challenging and stressful circumstances, such as in an emergency situation.
- During the course of their work operating room nurses may be exposed to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, chemicals, and other safety hazards.
The Team Lead, Surgical is accountable for the overall leadership and management of the operating rooms within Maples Surgical Centre, a Division of Clearpoint Health Network. The Team Lead, Surgical will operate in accordance with the policies, values, standards, legal and compliance objectives of the Centre and other independent bodies. This role reports to the Operations Director. This role requires full-time presence and active participation in surgical procedures, assisting the surgical team in ensuring optimal patient care and safety. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional focus, precision, and professionalism in all aspects of their work within the operating room environment. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential for effective coordination with other members of the surgical team.
